Actually, I like the combination and, you're right, he would be the type to wear his hitae-ate around his neck instead of his forehead. I like his outfit and the background looks great, so your efforts were well worth it. ^_^
One thing I've noticed and it's unique to you: That texture behind all of your images. What do you use for paper? Is it that linen, or is the effect digital?
Also, great use of a montone scheme. I like, I like!
